It would only take you 2-5 minutes. And if you are using automatic plugins then it would take your one time 5 minutes to just setup the plugin and it will do the rest for you.
So, if you still don’t know about how to backup worpdress, then you should learn it because it is better to learn and do it before you lose your hard work.
Ways to backup wordpress:
Many bloggers just know one method to backup wordpress but actually it is not the case. Here i am going to tell you all the possible ways to backup your wordpress blog:
1. Backup via plugins:
There are many worpdress plugins that can take backup for your with just one click of mouse. The only thing you need to do is to find some good free or paid (if you can afford) plugin and set it up. Then you can take backup regularly. There are two types of backup plugins:
Manually backup plugins:
There are some plugins with the help of which you can take regular backup manually i.e you will click on take backup and it will run and save your backup to your desired place.
Automatic backup plugins:
There are some plugins that can take automatic backup as well. You just need to configure them and then they will do the rest for you. These plugins will take backups regularly on your specified time.
2. Backup via cpanel:
You can take backup manually via your cpanel as well. The procedure is much simple and takes less then 5 minutes.
First off all you would need to login to cpanel and click on file manager. Then select all the files of your site and compress them to zip folder. After that download the zip folder to your hard drive. Then go to phpmyadmin and select your databases, then select all the tables and click on export, then click on go and your complete database would be downloaded to your hard drive.
The same database and files can you use to restore your site or migrate your site to new hosting.
3. Backup via ftp:
Taking backup of files via cpanel would take some time but if you want to save time then you can use ftp. Using ftp you can easily copy all of your sites files to your hard drive with one click.
If you have not taken any backups till now, then you should take them regularly because if you don’t have backup you could lose all of your hard work.
According to my experience, the easiest way to take backup is to use automated plugins like updraft plus, backwpup etc. Because it is very hard to take backups all the time manually. But if you want to do it yourself then i would recommend to do it via cpanel.
